Challenge:
One of the more labor intensive and error-prone challenges for Jaret & Cohn was the production of a weekly 5-page advertising insert into the local newspaper. The typical process involved piece-meal delivery of property photos and descriptions by email to the newspaper, followed by various phone calls to clarify positioning of each property for placement on the appropriate section of the insert. Not only was this process time-consuming, but the ponderous amount of communications required, inevitably led to errors.

Penobscot Bay Media's Solution:
Using Adobe's Active PDF Toolkit, Pen Bay Media converted page layout documents of the insert into dynamic templates that could subsequently be fed by the database. By simply selecting properties pre-populated in web form pick-lists, their Marketing Coordinator can build each page of the insert in a quarter of the time it took traditionally, while maintaining the integrity of the advertising layout design every time it is published. The system also gives immediate feedback to the database of every listing published in that week's advertisement allowing customers to see reports of how often their property is being advertised and in what key sections of the insert they appear.
