Holistic Site Survey
A Simple Step in Building Awareness
Too often, the most difficult, expensive and time consuming task of building awareness is the effort to obtain up-to-date floor plans of your space. For those clients without current floor maps of their facilities, PenBay can help. Utilizing a revolutionary spatially aware Robot for data capture and integration creates a holistic site survey. Our survey generates a high resolution map that defines interior space down to millimeter accuracy. This holistic site survey, and/or your existing CAD or CAFM files, forms the foundation of the PenBay In-Building Geographic Information System. To learn more, please watch this brief video:

In any large installation, understanding interior space data is critical to cross-functional business processes. One of the challenges facing consumers of this data has always been the uncertainties inherent in available floor plans. Some plans are historic or original proposed architectural drawings, while others are a patchwork of as-built drawings from different projects and snapshots over time. Securing up-to-the-minute representations of interior space has always been expensive and time consuming. It has also typically been a low priority endeavor, up until the time that updated information is needed. Then it becomes a high priority and both expensive and time-consuming to produce. Introducing the PenBay Holistic Site Survey, which utilizes state of the art spatially aware robotics technology to capture data for over 100,000 ft2 of interior space per day.
The challenge is to capture entire floor plans more quickly, more accurately, and less expensively than with traditional methods. Utilizing a spatially aware robot for data capture and integration, the Holistic Site Survey produces a high resolution map that defines interior space down to millimeter accuracy. These high resolution floor plans of the interior space show all of the traditional plan detail you would expect. They also show what is actually in those spaces, including cubicles, equipment and built-ins, as well as information about room use and occupancy. The robot is also able to simultaneously capture other types of information while it is surveying the interior space of a building. Capture of video and still images from each room provides multiple views of the interior space. An integrated multi-sensor array can capture various environmental information, such as temperature, humidity, CO, CO2 and VOC’s. Additionally, an onboard RF sensor can conduct a partial spectrum RF analysis to survey WiFi signal strength and even rogue WiFi network presence.
The final product is a high quality holistic map of the interior environment of the facility that is ready to integrate into a GIS. Faster, better, cheaper… with the PenBay Holistic Site Survey methodology and spatially aware robotic technology, you can have it all.
